Paddle Tennis

Platform Tennis, also known as "Paddle" by the people who love it, is a uniquely American racquet sport born just a few miles from Orienta Beach Club in Scarsdale, New York, in 1928.

Intended to be a "winter" sport played outdoors, the Paddle season generally runs from early October to late March, although it can be played year-round.

Primarily a "doubles" sport, Paddle is played and enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. It can be played at a highly competitive level or as a purely recreational pastime.  And Platform Tennis fosters a level of social engagement and camaraderie that is unique in sports.

The newly renovated Platform Tennis complex at Orienta Beach Club is comprised of four heated and lighted courts that are designed for day and evening play in all weather conditions, and a beautiful warming hut that provides a venue for watching all the action on the courts.

Orienta Beach Club currently fields four men's teams that compete at all levels in the Westchester Platform Tennis League (WPTL) and three women's teams that compete in the Metropolitan Interclub Platform Tennis League (MIPTL).

Orienta Beach Club also holds many social events for members during the course of the Paddle season, offering a mix of relaxed play in a convivial atmosphere and taking full advantage of the modern fireplace in our newly constructed Paddle Hut.
